What we check before quoting

What the barrier is
A basement pad carries a bonded film on its underside that stops slab humidity passing up into the foam and the carpet backing. Moisture that reaches the back of carpet has nowhere to evaporate to and nothing to do but sit there, which is the mechanism behind the smell people describe as "basement".
Why a standard bedroom pad fails down there
Ordinary rebond is open foam. On a slab it soaks up whatever the concrete gives off, stays damp between cycles, compresses early, and mats down into hard patches under the furniture. It costs a little less on the quote and roughly half the life of the carpet above it.
Spills stay on top
