Richmond Carpet Installation, Village to Subdivision
Richmond has grown a great deal without losing its village centre, and Kanata Carpet Pros works both halves of it — the older houses on and around Perth and McBean Street, and the newer subdivision streets that have filled in around them. The pricing is the same as our Kanata work; the houses are what differ.
- Same pricing as our Kanata jobs
- Village stairs cut and wrapped individually
- New-build scheduling around trim dates
- Samples brought to the house
- Old carpet removed and disposed
- Fixed written price up front

Richmond village and the new subdivisions
You can more or less date a Richmond house by which side of the village it sits on, and the date tells us what to expect underfoot.
The Perth and McBean core
Older houses, smaller rooms and staircases built long before modern rise-and-run rules. Rooms are frequently out of square by an inch or two across their length, which is entirely normal and simply has to be measured rather than assumed. Carpet that has been down here for decades usually wants a power stretch before anything else is decided.
The newer subdivision streets
Two-storey singles and townhomes of the last two decades: square rooms, flat decks, one main flight and a lower level that is either finished or waiting to be. These quote quickly and install predictably, and most are a first full replacement of the builder carpet.
Properties out toward the Jock River
Larger lots and a mix of ages. Nothing special about the carpet; the useful thing to tell us is whether any of the rooms sit over a crawl space or an unheated area, because that changes the pad we specify underneath.
Picking carpet for a Richmond home
Two very different housing types, two different sensible answers. We do not recommend the same carpet for a century village house and a 2018 build, and here is why.
Older houses: forgiving texture, mid-tones
Village houses have smaller rooms, less natural light, and floors that are not perfectly flat. A textured mid-tone carpet flatters all three — it hides minor unevenness, does not show every footprint in a small space, and copes with a hallway that gets more traffic per square foot than a suburban one.
New builds: spend on the stairs
In a modern Richmond two-storey the single flight carries the whole household, and builder carpet on it will be finished long before the bedrooms are. A dense twist on the stairs and something softer in the bedrooms is better value than one mid-grade everywhere.
Pattern where children and dogs are
A subtle pattern or heather hides an enormous amount in a family house, and it costs no more than a plain of the same construction. It is the easiest saving available in a Richmond quote and the one people most often skip.

Richmond homeowners ask
Do you cover Richmond as well as Kanata?
Yes. Richmond is a straight run south and it is inside our standard service area, so the pricing is identical to a Kanata job with no travel line added. We tend to schedule Richmond and Munster work on the same days, which sometimes means we can get to you sooner than expected.
Can you carpet a Richmond village house with narrow, steep stairs?
Yes, and older village stairs are among the more satisfying jobs we do. Steep treads and a tight turn at the top need each step cut and wrapped individually rather than run as a straight flight, so it takes longer — but the finished result on an old staircase is worth the extra hour.
We're building in a new Richmond subdivision. When should carpet go in?
Near the end, after painting and after the baseboard decision is settled. Carpet before painting is a carpet you will be cleaning drips off. Talk to us once you have a trim date and we will book to land just behind it.
